Why choose Bar for a European rail trip?
Bar is one of the rewarding stops to consider in Montenegro. Discover Stari Bar ruins, spend time around Bar waterfront and include King Nikola's Palace if your visit allows. The Interrail Global Pass can help link this stop with other participating rail destinations when the chosen train is eligible.
If you have a flexible pass, decide whether Bar is a daytime sightseeing stop or a place to spend the night; using an extra travel day for a short transfer is not always the best value.

Choose the sights that suit your available time in Bar. Check admission, opening days and local travel separately; attraction tickets are not included with the Interrail Global Rail Pass.
Arriving in Bar by train
Main rail gateway: Bar railway station. The actual station for your journey depends on the train and route. Verify whether the pass covers your operator, and inspect the platform and service information shortly before departure.
From station to sightseeing
Old Bar is several kilometres from the rail station and requires transport. A pass does not generally include city metros, trams, sightseeing buses or attraction admissions unless a specific benefit says otherwise.
A practical one- or two-day sightseeing plan
After arriving in Bar, allow time to reach your accommodation or arrange luggage storage. Choose one main sightseeing area rather than assuming every attraction is beside the station. For example, compare the locations of Stari Bar ruins and Bar waterfront before fixing the order of your visit. For an overnight stop, keep some time free before your next departure and avoid tight connections with timed admission tickets.
Staying overnight can make sense if the city has several attractions or if your next connection leaves early. For a shorter stopover, verify luggage storage, opening hours and how far the sights are from the station.
