EUROSTAR & PASSES

Using your Global Pass on Eurostar

How to plan Eurostar journeys to London, Brussels, Amsterdam and Paris with a Global Pass and paid passholder seats.

European rail journey

Independent Global Pass guide · Reviewed 18 October 2026 · Services, rules and availability may change.

Your Global Pass is not an open Eurostar ticket

Eurostar services operate with compulsory advance reservations for passholders, and availability can be limited. Even where your Interrail Global Pass is valid on the route, you must hold the correct reservation for your departure. Check Eurostar’s current passholder conditions.

Plan London terminal transfers

London St Pancras International is adjacent to King’s Cross but not the same as London Paddington, Euston or Victoria. Transfers across London generally require separate local fares and realistic journey margins.

Plan Continental station transfers

Paris Gare du Nord is not Paris Gare de Lyon. Brussels-Midi, Amsterdam Centraal and Rotterdam Centraal also have specific arrival platforms and local transfers. Match your onward connection to the correct station.

Book early and confirm controls

International Eurostar journeys can require advance check-in, passport or border controls. The process differs from an ordinary regional train where you walk directly onto the platform. Always check the operator’s instructions for the departure station and your documents.

When it makes sense

Eurostar is attractive for linking UK and mainland Europe without a flight. Compare the pass-plus-reservation cost with a conventional Eurostar ticket for the same date; a promotional direct ticket can sometimes be cheaper.

Alternatives

If no passholder reservation is available, consider a different date, another direct ticket or an independently booked ferry route. A Global Pass does not oblige you to use every leg as a passholder journey.
