Before leaving home
After purchasing, use the retailer and issuer’s current instructions to add the pass to the correct mobile application, usually the official Rail Planner app. Confirm the traveller name matches your identity documents and that your device can display your pass while travelling.
Activation is not the same as buying
The retailer currently describes a window of up to 11 months after purchase to activate eligible mobile Global Passes. Conditions depend on the exact product and can change; do not activate too early or assume a refund will remain available after activation.
Add each journey correctly
A ticket inspector may require the specific journey to be added to the pass and a valid travel day selected before boarding. Simply possessing a purchased Global Pass or searching a timetable is not enough. Recheck your travel day and any home-country use conditions.
Reservations remain separate
An active mobile pass does not automatically supply a TGV, Eurostar, AVE, sleeper or other compulsory seat reservation. Keep the pass and reservation documents together, offline when possible, and check ID requirements.
Stay prepared offline
Keep your device charged. Download journey information where supported, allow for roaming limitations and know what to do if your phone breaks or you change devices. The issuer’s current help centre controls replacement and recovery rules.
First class and age category
Pass class and age category belong to the purchased product. A first-class pass normally allows second-class travel too, but the reverse is not true. Discounts and child arrangements must be checked against the current retailer offer.
Plan with current operator information
Use the Global Pass overview , the destination directory and the official source links . Pass conditions, train schedules and supplements may change after publication.
